Research On Bashu Poetry Cao Xuequan

This paper studies the poetry by Cao Xuequan when he was traveling the Ancient Sichuan and Chongqing during his office. The prestigious Cao Xuequan of late Ming dynasty, was known for his high integrity, remarkable political achievement and wisdom. He also led the congregation of intellectual men to a peak, and presided over the poetry field in the Ancient Fujian. Cao Xuequan was excellent at poetry and literature, creating abundant works of poetry and thoughts. This paper, based on examining his work of "Grass of the Ancient Sichuan" and "Grass of the Ancient Chongqing", explores the relationship between these two works and its correspondent local culture, and summarizes the significant role of his works in inheriting the local culture of the Ancient Sichuan and Chongqing.This paper is divided into five chapters, excepting for the conclusion:Chapter1:introduction. It introduces the significance of studying the poetry by Cao Xuequan on the Ancient Sichuan and Chongqing, reviews relevant studies on his works, and deliberates on the content and framework of this paper.Chapter2:two sections. The first section introduces his life, the second one summarizes his achievements in the Ancient Sichuan and Chongqing.Chapter3:it analyzes his theory of poetry and aesthetic orientation in poetry creation, and summarizes his insights into such four aspects as abiding by the rhythm and advocating elegance, admiring nature and freeing disposition, emphasizing inspirations and pursuing changes, accumulating wisdom and enhancing foundation.Chapter4:it is the main body of this paper. It explores his poetry from the overall perspective, dividing and discussing his poetry by its content into1) landscape poetry of travel;2) things-sung poetry;3) history commenting poetry;4) feelings-expressed poetry;5) responding poetry.Chapter5:it analyzes his poetry features. Based on the above research on his poetry, this paper concludes with2features:1) euphemism;2) simplicity and vigorousness.
