Yayin began in the Tang and the Five Dynasties, Development in the Liao, Song, Xia, Jin Dynasty, prospered in Yuan Dynasty and declined in Ming and Qing Dynasty. Yayin reached the most prosperous stage in Yuan Dynasty. At that time, the traditional Chinese carving art had appeared and the Ming Qing carving genre was about to start so it linked between the proceeding and the following. However, as a miracle in the history of seals, it has speial aesthetic value. Yuan Yayin was widely used in every field among people at that time and the range it spreaded was uncomparable with any other seals.The article discusses four parts of regular script in Yayin. The first part introduces the formation of Yayin and the reasons of the advent of Yuan Yayin in refular script. The second part classifies Yayin under the standard of Yuan yayin seals in regular script. The third part analyzes the art style of Yayin in regular script via the relation between its seals and frame. The last part introduces the influence of Yayin. After reading through the article, we find the various styles in Yuan Yayin in regular script were the new-born in the field of carving art and provided mature examples for the supply of various writing styles in seal art. The advent of Yayin becomes a very vital and essential part in the history of carving art.
