"The Nutcracker" is the late work of Tchaikovsky, the composer and music educator of Russi an. It is one of the most outstanding ballet of his Best Three. Tchaikovsky makes "The Nutcracker" become more symphonic and have an independent artistic value through hismature experience of symphonic creation. Pletnev is a successful interpretation of Tchaikovsky’s music. According to his years of piano playing experience, he successfully recomposed "The Nutcracker" for piano, a perfect reproduction of the original ballet music. This paper, based on my playing experience and reading of related literature, firstly introduces Tchaikovsky’smusic creation and style; secondly introduces the music creation, content and aesthetic features of the ballet "The Nutcracker"; finally discusses the creation, music form and performing techniques of the piano suite "The Nutcracker". Through comprehensive analysis and research on the piano suite "The Nutcracker", we can have a more in-depth and comprehensive understanding of the work, which can be beneficial to our playing practice.
