"The Nutcracker" is one of Tchaikovsky's three famous ballet, who is a great musician, composer, and educator of Russia. It is also the most outstanding one, and plays an irreplaceable role in the world music history. Pletnev who is a famous pianist of Russia, adapted seven most representative piece of music of this ballet into piano suite"The Nutcracker", which made it feels more symphonic and valuable.This article have a deep analysis on the piano composition "the Nutcracker" concert suite which was adapted by Pletnev. By viewing the ballet "the Nutcracker" on the spot, this article analyzed the music image and performance techniques of this seven piece of music from the aspect of music ontology, performance method and ways to describe the ballet scenes by piano, which shows the relationship between the piano version and the ballet version more deeply.Through the actual playing experience and by reading the related music literature, the author hopes to have a more comprehensive understanding about the masterpiece "the Nutcracker", in the same time to provide reference for other players.
