Nowadays under the global vision, there are always unavoidable shocks betweenhuman beings’ civilizations, caused by the different backgrounds of history and culture,as the core factor for a civilization, religions will variant as well. The shocks betweencivilizations especially religions become more and more obvious.Inter-religious Dialogue is on the position of leading edge in the domain, ever sinceit occurred, the argument about this topic never stopped, and most people judge this newcoming theory of inter-religious relationship as bystanders. Combining with oppositeattitudes, in one side they are querying and criticizing; in another side the importanceand necessity of Inter-religious Dialogue are undoubted. However it is definitely notutopianism, each religion has its specificity. They insist their own principals and culturaltraditions; and that is how different cognitions cause kinds of misunderstanding.“TheFather of Inter-religious Dialogue” Raimon Panikkar and his life experience throughdifferent traditions has a realistic meaning for the theory of Inter-religious Dialogue itsown. This thesis is to explore and talk about the Panikkar’s religious dialogue theoryfrom multiple dimensions, based on which to discuss Utopia feelings and the realisticdifficulties of religious dialogue. Under the background of the globalization era, thedevelopment of economics and trade, reinforce of cultural exchange, and the integrationof politics and religion create the opportunities for the crash between different cultures.Meanwhile, the nature of religion and its believer decides the dialogue between them.Panikkar’s recognition of the nature of religion and his world view and methodologyprovide a new idea for the research on religious dialogue theory. On this basis, thisthesis illuminates Panikkar’s nondualism, makes a comparative analysis with thoughtsof Paul Knitter and John Hick who are theologians, and comes up with feasibility ofdifferent modes of realizing the crash between different cultures and religions. Then thethesis combines the theory with practice, arousing people’s yearn for“thecosmotheandricintuition”, which reminds us to realize the obstacle and challenge weface when we get in touch with Utopia feelings of such religious dialogue. It asks us todevote ourselves continually to exploring how different religions complete their self-transformation, co-exist harmoniously, and provide better service for the world inthis era.
