A Comparative Study Between China And Korea Requests

China and South Korea has experienced thousands of years of history andnumerous cultural communication, there are many similarities in language and culture.But because of their different values and different view of the world, both countrieshave their own unique characteristics now. These differences are also reflected in theirrespective languages.This paper will take request speech acts frequently used in daily life on asthe object of study, make an inspection on request strategies used in China andSouth Korea, and also make a comparative analysis of Chinese and Korean request speech from head act and assistance act, reveal the differences between them.The data of the paper was collected through questionnaire. Use the property of therequest speech act, the intimacy between the listener and the speaker, the listener andthe speaker’s social status as variables which affect the uses of the request strategies,there are12request situations set in the questionnaire. Through the analysis of theresults of the questionnaire, reveal the use of the request speech act in China and SouthKorea. Through two aspects of the refusals and the auxiliary behavior language, makean analysis of the use of request strategies in China and South Korea, and clarify thedifferences through the comparative analysis.
