With the further worsening environmental pollution and ecological damage, the problem ofenvironment has attracted worldwide attentions and concerns. Especially, at a time after thecold war when those traditional threats in “high-level politic” areas like military and securitygradually weaken, international environmental issue has ranked as one of the most significantglobal issues, accompanying the security and economic development of the world. So far, people are still feeling frightened to the eight public nuisance events in the20th century, theisland country, Japan, being even more sensitive in particular. In the1950s, the Japaneseeconomy entered a period of fast growth, but the domestic environmental problems stood outat the same time. Facing the ever worsening situation, Japanese government had taken severalsteps to promote the sustainable development by balancing the economic advancement andenvironment protection. While protecting its domestic environment, the Japanese governmentlaunched effective environmental diplomatic activities, during which, however, theappearance of Fukushima nuclear crisis had demonstrated that Japan encountered manydifficulties as well. Through the introduction of the occurrence of international environmentalproblems and protection movement, as well as the background information about Japaneseglobal environmental diplomacy, this thesis is mainly seeking to analyze the possibledifficulties Japan will probably encounter during the procedure, and calls on the governmentsand regions to work together to get the ever worsening global ecological and environmentalproblems protected and improved.
