Since the ancient times, the Mongolians have been a nationality under the rule of law. After the establishment of the Yuan Dynasty, within years, a comparatively complete legal system of the empire was established. Today, great achievements have been made in the study of the legal history of the Yuan Dynasty. The supervisory system of this dynasty, however, has not been given detailed and systematic studies, except some fleeting reference made by few scholars in their articles. Thus, it remains a weak link in the study of the legal history of the Yuan Dynasty. Till now, fewer projects have been established in the research field of the Judicial Commissioner System of the Yuan Dynasty. And the scraps of previous studies prove to be unsystematic and shallow. For example, in the aspect of the Judicial Commissioner System of the Yuan Dynasty, the existing researches only touch upon its changes, posts, and organizations. The role of this system, as well as its influence in the Yuan Dynasty and later dynasties has been analyzed carefully. Taking this into consideration, the author of this paper, aided with the existing research findings, conducts a comparatively systematic study on this characteristic supervisory system of the Yuan, and sums up its content, features, and influence, hoping it will be of help in the related research fields. This paper focuses on studying the supervisory system and supervisory organs, though which we learn both the changes of the supervisory system of and the role and characteristics of the supervisory organs of the Yuan Dynasty. This will be supplement in the study of the legal system of the Yuan Dynasty. Also, it offers reference and new ideas for the establishment of a perfect supervisory system today.
