Recently, the political order in the Chinese ethnic minorities’ villages has been favorably influenced by the mobility of those villagers who prefer to leave their living places in order to find a jot. The purpose of this dissertation is to analyze the changes in the political life in the Wang village, one of the ethnic minority villages in Guizhou province. By referencing the perspective of "the cultural nexus of power", we may find an appropriate angle to reconsider these changes.Firstly, this dissertation analyses the power pattern which mainly contains two weighty subjects——the clans and the villagers’ committee. As a matter of fact, power interactions between the local clans and villagers’ committee are basically following the rules which created by the "cultural nexus of power" in Wang village. Meanwhile, this dissertation also analyzes the newly emerged phenomenon and problems in the "cultural nexus of power", and points out that this "artistic nexus" does not really lose its power under the influence of the population flows. In fact, by adjusting some rules, the "cultural nexus of power" are still capable of effecting the power relations. But it is also notable that the adjustment of "cultural nexus of power" cannot really dismiss the impact of the villagers’ changes in thoughts. Hence, a tension has occurred between the stability of power relation and the villagers hurried changes of power concepts, and it is this tension has made the power pattern in the Wang village keep changing all the time.Altogether, the purpose of discussing the population flow’s influences to the power pattern in the Wang village is to obtain a new and comprehensive perspective to review the transformation of Chinese rural society. By investigating the changes of power pattern in Wang village, this dissertation points out that the agency of the Chinese rural society cannot be ignored by researchers. It is this agency which made the transformation of Chinese rural society cannot be considered as a process of the "modernity" replacing the "tradition". In fact, the transformation of the Chinese rural society is a process which seeking the balance between the development and diverse cultural characteristics in pastoral society. In other words, only by respecting the social and cultural features, we may have a chance to get rid of the old routine of preventing our tradition from cultural anomie, while abandoning our tradition for the modernization.
