| African Americans belong to a very special group in the United States of America’s immigration society. They spend almost as much time as White Europeans living in the North America. However, their political conditions are extremely differentiated. As the voting right has been free from the limitations of age, sex, wealth, race, etc. in this twenty-first century, the38,929,319African Americans which count up to12.6%of US population have become the second largest population of voters after The Whites. The African Americans are vital roles in elections. Due to its history, and racism issues in the US society, race as a factor has been showing influence in the past elections’results. Since President Barack Obama won the election in2008, many people would assume that African-Americans’political situation has been improved entirely and the US society has eliminated the racial discrimination to the extent that can make the United States a perfectly democratic country. Then, does the racial problem influence American modern democracy? This paper is aimed to analyze the party politics of the US citizens with a fresh perspective of observing the relationship between African-Americans and the two parties in the Deep South, which is closely connected to African American’s struggle for human rights. The paper is focused on the African American’s election condition in the seven Deep South states and Mississippi is taken as a represent. By discussing the African-American history of the forced emigration to the US and their fight for the deserved rights, the author tries to explore the roots of African-American political culture of "Linked Fate" and then combine it with African-American’s unique ideology to explain the dramatic transformation of the relationship between the African Americans, the GOP and Democrats. On such basis, the thesis endeavors to introduce the political appeals of the African-Americans for Chinese scholars and their political alliance strategy taken in order to achieve their own political aspirations in the case of gradually expanding political participation.Based on the analysis, the paper argues that as an established fact, a racial structure in a certain order has been formed in America, which leads to the inequable distribution of citizenship, justice advantages and economic status, etc. among different ethnic groups. The rigid distribution can especially be seen between blacks and whites in the United States. Therefore, the tension between blacks and whites, and the relationship between African Americans and the two major political parties would help us to measure democratic progress in the Deep South and the American racial equality and justice. |
