| The world situation changed in the late1980’s and early ninety’s. The collapse of theSoviet union and the upheaval in eastern Europe caused the international communistmovement to a low ebb. The domestic various thoughts collide with each other and thetraditional ideas seriously hampered China’s economic development and social progress.In1992, Deng Xiaoping went to the South of China. He based on China’s nationalconditions and put forward his famous assertion during the progress which make thesocialist construction of our country back on track again.In this article, there are three parts to analyzes the profound significance of the DengXiaoping’s Southern Speech to the construction of socialism with Chinese characteristics.First, the study starts with the background of the Southern Speech which includes thedomestic and foreign environment to highlight the urgent need of the Southern Speech.Then, the writer explained a series of celebrated thesis of the Southern Speech form thedifferent perspective including the economic and political and ideological perspectives.Second, the writer analyzes the important role of the Southern Speech.
