J·Rawls’institutional theory of social justice is one of the popular theories in the western academic circle, but it also comes in for a great deal of criticism. As one of the most influential ethicists in the modern America, Alasdair Macintyre puts forward view of Virtue-Justice on the basis of Negative criticism theory of justice system, and the justice problem as well as theory perplexity are the foundation in reality of his theory.Rawls holds that social justice should be achieved by establishing of the social system and perfecting the justice rules, because regime is the first value of society and individuale virtue is just the pathway of realizing self-improvement without universality. Macintyre affirms Rawls’attaching great importance to the system justice, but points out that the theory of J· Rawls overemphasizes the decisive effect of system justice on the modern western social construction and criticizes that limiting justice to the frame of practical context is unreasonable. So, he defines justice as the inner capability, qualilty and virtue based on individual virtue practice and emphasizes rhe fact that onlyvirtuous people can make and apply rules better so that virtue can paly a bigger role in upholding distributive justice. Even more important, Macintyre advocates the return of classical Aristotle theory of Justice to recover the original function of justice in maintaining individual virtue.Macintyre’s justice of virtue is a kind of unique understanding and catalogs everything. He reestabilishes the virtue as the value dimension for the study on justcie and reproduces the role status and function of indivual virtue in maintaining distributive justice. Although, his criticism on institutional theory of social justice has not touched the fundamental value system of capitalism, however, for all that, its rationality outweighs its advantage. In the key period of promoting social reform, maintaining distributive justice becomes more compelling so that Macintyre’s justice of virtue will shed light on the problems of how to uphold distributive justce in China.
