Underwriting System Of Ocean Catastrophe Insurance

China is a typical maritime country, with more than18000kilometers of coastline and a total area of4700000square kilometers of sea is located on the Pacific coast. However, China is also one of the most influenced countries by ocean natural disasters, especially in recent decades, the coastal economy in China make rapid progress with the reform and opening developing deeply, but due to the development of ocean resources management system is imperfect, development and behavior of people go beyond the natural limits. Ocean pollution is increasingly serious, the ocean environent also showed abnormal changes,in order to make up for the collective and personal economic loss, it’s imperative to establish ocean catastrophe insurance system. By researching the ocean catastrophe insurance’s underwriter, reinsurance and financial derivatives, this article try to design an underwriting system of ocean catastrophe insurance in China.The article is divided into four chapters:The first chapter is the overview of the underwriting system of ocean catastrophe insurance, by summarizing the characteristics of catastrophe insurance and it’s underwriting system, combining with the characteristic of ocean catastrophe risk, this chapter sums up the nature of ocean catastrophe insurance as well as the characteristics of the ocean catastrophe insurance’s underwriting system.The second chapter is the about ocean catastrophe insurance’s underwriter system, by comparing with underwriter pattern of catastrophe insurance in other developed countries in the world, summarizeing three kinds of different types, and discriminate the feasibility of these types according to the ocean catastrophe insurance, and analysis which system is more suitable for the ocean catastrophe insurance. The third chapter is the ocean catastrophe reinsurance and financial derivative. This chapter is divided into two, ocean catastrophe reinsurance and financial derivative mechanism of ocean catastrophe, the former summarizes the the characteristics of ocean catastrophe reinsurance and the pattern choice of reinsurance, The latter analysis the financial derivatives of catastrophe insurance, and designs the application of financial derivatives in ocean catastrophe insurance.The fourth chapter is about the basic content of the design of ocean catastrophe insurance legal system. The first part comments the China’s agricultural catastrophe insurance and catastrophe insurance in Shenzhen, and then try to design the system of ocean catastrophe insurance’s underwriter subjiect, reinsurance and financial derivatives.
