Study of third language acquisition has been carried out in international academicarea for nearly40years.These study mainly dominated by Britain and USA.There aretwo research achievements:matalinguistic awareness and cross-linguistic transfer.Chinais a multi-ethnic country,this research area should become an important part of thirdlanguage acquisition.Our research focused on the chracteristics and laws of hmongstudents learn english in GuiZhou province,it discuss cognitive chracteristics andlanguage chracteristics of Hmong students learn english.We divided students into twogroups with methods of interview and language testing.We are study english writting ofHmong students of different bilingual level with technique of corpus driven in order todiscover the cognitive chracteristics and language chracteristics of Hmong students inthird language acquisition. These chracteristics include using of word and sentences、collocation、grammer etc.We can find cognitive model of english writting ofHmong students.research conclusion tell us bilingual balance students did better jobthan bilingual imbalance students in matalinguistic awareness. Chinese influenceenglish writting of bilingual balance students,Chinese and Miao language influenceenglish writting of bilingual imbalance students. bilingual balance students depend onconception、vocabulary and meaning representation. bilingual imbalance studentsdepend on vocabulary representation.This study help english teachers take effectivemeasures of promote bilingual level.It also can help english teachers to take effectiveteaching methodology.
