Cloze is a type of test based on discourse, which is designed in terms of Gestalt Psychology, namely completion psychology. It can synthetically examine students’ language knowledge, reading ability and overall language proficiency. Besides, it can also test students’ ability of understanding the whole article on the premise of information gap.As a result, it has become an evergreen tree in the NMET.Corpus is an outcome of the information and technology development. It mainly collects real language used in natural scenes, including discourse, utterance and other living language examples. All the language is stored in the form of electronic databases.The thesis is about the application of corpus to English cloze in Senior High School,which is aimed to apply self-built and related corpora to English cloze teaching in Senior High School in order to improve students’ enthusiasm towards English learning. In addition, it also aims to help students master vocabulary and grammar in abundant real contexts, enhance their awareness of discourse and context and in turn improve their ability to solve problems in cloze.The research primarily makes use of questionnaire method and empirical method. The main content refers to the following aspects. Firstly, it states the present research situations of corpus and cloze. Secondly, it talks about approaches to building corpora and how to apply the self-built corpora to cloze teaching in class. Thirdly, it explains the research process where the author chooses two classes Grade 3 in one of the city Senior High Schoos as the research object. Finally, it illuminates the research result. As the result shows, the students in the experimental class have obviously improved their scores and problem solving ability in cloze after corpora are brought into class. Apart from that,students become more interested and confident in cloze. Therefore, the application of self-built corpora to English cloze teaching in class is positively associated with the students’ ability improvement of English cloze in Senior High School, which can benefit students to solve the problems in cloze. Considering its advantages, it is worth popularizing in English teaching in Senior High School. However, there exist some limitations in the process because the author is lack of experience, doesn’t know muchabout the relative theories, and unfamiliar with the corpus analysis tool, etc. All these limitations need to be improved in the later research and practice.
