This study using literature research, classroom observation and questionnaire survey method, preliminary understanding and analysis of the problems such as the first grade students reading comprehension ability is low and its causes, and using the meaningful learning theory and schema theory and the theory research results of relevant reading as a guide, according to the ordinary high school English curriculum standards for junior high school students reading comprehension requirements, concept map is chosen as the experimental tools, in the first grade in our school to carry out the "application of concept map as a learning strategy study, aims to provide students with more diverse reading learning strategies, stimulate and maintain students’ interest in learning English, improve their reading comprehension. Through experiment, we found that the concept of the graph is to improve students’ reading comprehension ability provides a good "scaffolding", let students learn to figure out by the way, in figure way to represent the reading content. Students in the process of reading comprehension, and gradually formed the habit of using existing knowledge to understand the article content, can grasp the overall article gradually; The past the kind of inefficient "didn’t see the forest for the trees," got preliminary improve reading habits. At the same time, we also the application of concept map strategy put forward some issues which should be paid attention to.
