Objective:The author use Sit and Reach as the main test form to test the subjects’ spine and hip flexion ability and use the joint angle instrument to measure the spine and hip joint flexion range of motion decomposition and explore the thoracic relationship between the lumbar spine, pelvis, flexion range of motion and analyse the physical form factor and Sit and Reach achievements and identify the difference between genders and between different levels of Sit and Reach. At last conferm the Sit and Reach’s measurement properties and validity. Methods:In this paper the author used Literature Review, logical analysis, mathematical statistics, and experimental method. And the experimental method is the main method of this paper. The subjects are students from Sports and Health Sciences Hangzhou Normal University and Zhejiang Construction Vocational and Technical College. The total subjects are240, which contain116boys and124girls. All the subjects’ age is between18-22years old and they are all healthy.During the test, in order to more clearly recognize the relationship between specific parts in the range of motion when you do the movements and all parts of the overall measurement results, the author uses the joint angle instrument on all parts of the decomposition measurements, then the author uses correlation analysis and difference test to explore and verify the data.Analyze the relationship between body shape and test results, and generalize the methods of measurementfor the measurement attributes.Reaults:(1) correlation coefficient of the Sit and Reach and spine flexion is0.633, correlation coefficient of the Sit and Reach and pelvic flexion is0.665.(2) There is a significant difference among gender, height, upper limb length and lower limb length, but the Sit and Reach score of the overall form length indicator correlation is not significant(some results are negative).(3) Spine range of motion of the boys less than girls, and there are significant differences; percentage of boys thoracic range of motion is greater than girls, the percentage of the flexion range of motion of the pelvis segment is less than girls, and have significant differences. Boys and girls in little difference between the percentage of range of motion of lumbar segments, and there are no differences.(4) The correlation analysis showed that:Sit and Reach excellent group, good group and failed group score and the proportion of the total range of motion of pelvic range of motion of the highest passing group Sit and Reach achievements and thoracic the proportion of the range of motion of the total range of motion.(5) Univariate analysis found that:the proportion of the thoracic segment of the total range of motion, significant differences exist between the various grades; lumbar segment range of motion of the total range of motion there is no significant difference between the proportion of each grade; pelvis segment movement the magnitude of the ratio of the total range of motion, significant differences exist between the various grades.Conclusion:(1) Sit and Reach can partly reflect the spine and pelvis flexion movement.(2) In this study, all the subjects’ length form indicators, which contains upper extremity, lower extremity and sitting higher length index, are not the cause of the factors of the boys and girls Sit and Reach score differences.(3) In this study, the main factor which results the gender differences of students sitting Reach accomplishments is the total range of motion of the spine. The pelvic segment range of motion of the gap is a major factor for the boys and girls Sit and Reach score differences.(4) The main factors which affect the Sit and Reach score are different among each grade.(5) Spinal range of motion of the total range of motion between the proportions of each grade showed a certain trend.
