English vocabulary learning requirements to junior middle school students in The Curriculum Standards of English Instruction for Compulsory Education is higher than before. In order to solve the Problems which the junior high school students are facing to in English vocabulary learning and improve their English leaning level, the author choose this thesis to research on the English vocabulary leaning strategies of junior high school students.This paper describes the foreign and Chinese studies on vocabulary learning strategies and the facts of English vocabulary teaching and learning in Wuhai junior middle school. The subjects of the study were the grade8junior students from wuhai Haibowan district,Hainan district,Wuda district, and the instruments adopted included a questionnaire and interviews. Detailed analysis of both the qualitative and quantitative data has yielded the findings as follows:lthe junior students seldom adopt English vocabulary learning strategies.2Gifted students and students with difficult differ in English vocabulary learning strategies.3It exists a certain correlation between vocabulary learning strategies and achievements. The investigation is designed to examine the effect of English vocabulary learning strategy training. The comparative class has received English vocabulary learning in their usual way. This results shows that vocabulary learning strategy training can not only improve students’ English competent, but also help them form good English learning habits.
