As an important part of English teaching, vocabulary teaching is not only the focus concerned by an English teacher but also the most time-consuming part when students learning English. However, most students memorize words mechanically; in particular, new learners have little knowledge of vocabulary learning strategy. As new curriculum reform continues to deepen, how to efficiently develop vocabulary teaching, guide the students to use some related vocabulary memorizing strategies, and improve students’ words learning status is a research problem needing to be concerned by frontline teachers. In view of this, the author referred to lots of domestic and foreign experts’ researches on vocabulary learning strategy especially memorizing strategy and conducted questionnaire survey of vocabulary memorizing strategy among students she taught. On this basis, the author carried out a semester of targeted training for students of experimental class according to junior high school freshmen’s memorizing characteristics.This research takes a total of76freshmen from class5and class7in No.15School in Tanggu as research objects. Class5is experimental class and Class7is control class. The researcher tries to carry out the training of phonetic symbol and pronunciation Strategy, visual imagery strategy and context memorizing strategy according to context in classroom teaching activities, for the purpose of helping the students transform from rote memory to meaningful memory so that they can memorize accurately the words they have learnt. At last, the author applies SPSS19.0statistical analysis software to analyzing relevant data obtained and the test results have shown that the training is effective. In other words, the students are able to use these strategies to memorize words, their enthusiasm for English learning has increased, and their overall performance in English has improved.
