Contemporary society is a society in which social pressure gradually increasing. Though the material standard of living continues to enrich, the mood of the people continue to be suppressed. Especially young college students, who are not only bear great pressure of learning, employment, communication, love, but also bear the heavy expectations of their family and community, which is particularly prone to depression, anxiety, disappointment, fear, anger and other negative emotions, some may evolve into varying degrees of mental disorders, so that they can not make the right choices, words, and deeds, and finally led to the campus tragedy. In view of this, the CPC Central Committee and the State Council stressed in<views on further strengthening and improving the ideological and political education of college students>:"To carry out a thorough and painstaking ideological and political work and mental health education, targeted to help college students learn to solve specific problems in study and taught, healthy living, career-choosing and friends-making and enhance their understanding in thinking and spirit."When negative emotions affect students’ mental health and normal life of learning increasingly, they desperately need to catharsis their dissatisfaction and to find solace through a certain way. Thus the Internet, with its advantages of virtual, freedom, convenience, anonymity, makes university students to vent their negative emotions in the virtual world of the Internet, and the Internet has also become the main place for many college students to avoid loneliness and troubleshooting psychological pressure. But due to various reasons, college students emotional catharsis behavior on the Internet also generated a lot of negative issues, they need appropriate guidance of government, universities, and site managers.Following the "give questions-analyze the questions-solve the questions," this paper is divided into three parts, and is elaborated step-by-step. Firstly, analyze the necessity and feasibility of the University network catharsis to illustrate the necessity and usefulness of the study of this topic. Then analyze the situation, problems and reasons of contemporary college students’ network catharsis,aiming at understanding the status of the university students’ network catharsis fully and finding the cruxes of it. Finally, discusses on how to guide college students to network catharsis.The first part is an analysis of the necessity and possibility of college students’ network catharsis. Due to social, school, family, personal reasons, college students are under tremendous pressure so they need emotional catharsis urgently. The internet, with its advantages of anonymity, equality, freedom, real-time and interactivity provides possibilities for the university students’ network catharsis.The exposition of this chapter provides necessary support for the later-study of this article. It is the starting point of this paper.Secondly, analyze the status, problems and reasons of college students’ network catharsis. College students’ network catharsis refers to students release the pressure in their heart and aggressive energies through the network, which is the expression and catharsis of students’ depression and feelings of injustice in the network. The specific content of college students’network catharsis can be summarized in four categories: social issues catharsis, nationalism catharsis, study and life catharsis, social interaction and emotional setback catharsis. The ways of College Students’ Network catharsis are: IM chat Post network log and microblogging, online games, online forums. Students’ particularity and networks’ transmission characteristics make network spoof, network rumor, network abuse, and other issues during the students’ network emotional catharsis. The reasons for these problems are mainly the lack of information literacy and sense of discipline of students, lack of social responsibility of website managers, absence of universities moral education about network as well as the weakening of the effectiveness of the existing legal in cyberspace.Thirdly, the focus and core of this paper-guidance of college students’ network catharsis. Any behavior is relatively free and it is impossible to achieve absolute freedom because any flood of behavior will hurt the object and subject of the world. Referencing to the analysis of the status, problems and reasons of college students’ network catharsis, we can easily come to the following conclusions:We not only need students consciously follow the norms or principles, but also need the government, universities, site managers’ appropriate guidance when college students are on the internet for emotional catharsis. This part is study from the points of the government, universities, website managers, as well as the students themselves.
