Multimedia teaching is an important part of education informationization. It meets the need of deepening the reform of course teaching. As an advanced teaching method used in elementary schools’ Chinese language teaching classrooms, multimedia shows its unique charm of vitality by integrating sound, images, video and text as a whole. Nowadays, multimedia has been widely used in Chinese language teaching classrooms of elementary schools. It has broken through the method of teaching only with language and concepts. It has covered the traditional teaching method’s shortage of teaching with "a blackboard, a piece of chalk, a book and a mouth". Now with the help of multimedia teaching, students are able to feel, understand and enrich knowledge much more intuitive, convenient, faster, clearer and more efficient.Although multimedia teaching has many advantages, it can not be neglect that sometimes inappropriate or excessive use of it may bring negative effects as gilding the lily. This may disturb teachers’ normal teaching and students’ understanding and mastery of knowledge. To better combine the application multimedia with Chinese language classroom teaching, practical investigation are needed. By investigating and analyzing practical situations in a case school, this paper provides suggestions for teachers to use multimedia sources in a more reasonable way so as to create a more efficient and lively Chinese language classroom teaching environment. This paper is mainly divided into three parts:The first part is the investigation of multimedia teaching application in an elementary school’s Chinese language teaching classroom. Firstly, the teacher’s professional background, students’ quality and ability as well as multimedia problems such as the frequency of application are shown in this paper by interviewing teachers and students. Secondly, through the concrete teaching case, the application of multimedia in accordance with the degree of effect is divided into two aspects of "relatively more appropriate" and "not appropriate", which are combined with theoretical analysis to elaborate the multimedia teaching as suitable or not.The second part offers further analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of multimedia teaching in elementary school’s Chinese language classroom. There are six aspects for analyzing the advantages:stimulating the students’ interest, breaking through teaching difficulties, enriching curriculum resources, expanding students’ thinking, optimizing classroom teaching structure and breeding aesthetic emotion. Its disadvantages are mainly discussed in three aspects:serious formalism, despising basic teaching methods and improper timing.The third part provides suggestions to improve the appropriateness of multimedia application in Chinese language classroom teaching of the primary school. This part is divided into three sections. The first section discusses the principles of multimedia teaching appropriateness from three aspects:teaching content, students’ background and teachers’aptitude. The second section discusses the concrete application of multimedia and its integration in primary school’s Chinese language classroom teaching from five aspects:phonetic teaching, literacy teaching, reading teaching, poetry teaching and composition teaching. The third section discusses how to better handle the relationship between multimedia and traditional teaching media from two aspects:the relationship between multimedia and textbooks, and the relationship between multimedia and the blackboard.This study is mainly about the present application of Multimedia Computer-Assisted Instruction in a primary school’s Chinese language classroom teaching. By showing and analyzing the concrete teaching case, this paper summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of Multimedia Computer-Assisted Instruction from a researcher’s perspective, and offers advice and ideas for the existing problems in order to make the application of Multimedia Computer-Assisted Instruction and the Chinese language teaching much more relevant.
