With the arrival of the era of economic globalization and education internationalization, it has entered a rapid development period for studying abroad in China. During the past decade, the number of Chinese students studying abroad has increased at an average rate of about15%every year. China has become the country which has sent the greatest number of students studying abroad currently. With the development of study abroad, it becomes more and more intensified of the phenomenon that the ages of students studying abroad based on junior high school and senior high school students as the main groups tend to younger, the number of high school students studying abroad has grown rapidly, and the boom of high school students studying abroad gradually appear. Studying abroad at a younger age becomes a hot issue in the academia area.Based on the research background mentioned above, by the method of empirical study, taking the high school students as the study object,this paper has conducted a questionnaire survey about the demand of studying abroad and interview research in the group of high school students in Hubei Province.Then it collects relevant data and materials, sorts out and analyzes data using SPSS statistical software.On the basis of literature study, this paper has divided the Chinese students studying aboard history into eight stages:before country founding, the early days of country founding, the period of cultural revolution, the prophase of reform and opening up, the period of adjustment and development, the period of standardized development and the period of prosperity and development. Meanwhile, it also summed up four significances of Chinese students studying abroad:conforming to the needs of economic and social development, promoting the cultivation and development of talents, pushing forward the enhancing of technology level and boosting cultural exchanges between China and western countries.Through analysis of the questionnaire data, this paper conclude that there are six characteristics of the demand for studying abroad of high school students in Hubei Province as following:relatively stronger demand, choice preference, certain blindness in demand, limited pay capacity, clear purpose and less willingness to return. Also, by chi-square test and regression analysis, this paper points out three influence factors in the demand for studying abroad of high school students in Hubei Province:personal factors, social factors and educational factors. Personal factors include the family location, parents’ educational level, parents’ vocation, family yearly income, parents’ expectation and information acquisition. It includes national policy, employment pressure, social security, social demonstration and living level for social factors.Educational factors mainly include the quality of education and the college entrance examination system.Through analysis of the questionnaire data and interview materials, this paper discusses three problems in the demand for studying abroad of high school students in Hubei Province:being certain blindness in the choice of studying abroad, low return ratio in people studying abroad at their own expenses and better regulation needed for consulting firms engaged with the study abroad.Based on the whole research, this paper proposes five measures and suggestions as follows:guiding all social members more rationally to study abroad, improving laws and regulations of studying abroad, increasing education resources of high quality, strengthening the service for the people studying abroad and regulating the development of consulting firms on the study abroad.
