Study On Application Of Pressing Defense In The Attacking Third At The6th Women’s World Cup

With the method of video observation and statistical analysis, this paper made astudy on the characteristics of time and field of pressing defense in the attacking thirdapplied by the teams of the6thwomen’s world cup, the results discovered the laws andthe characters of the world elite teams applying the pressing defense in the attackingthird. Some comparative analysis between different levels has also made in the study.The main conclusion as follows:The first, the stages of the match, the power gap between the two teams and thescore changes were the main factors that contributed to the difference between teamsadopted the average number of pressing defense in the attacking third per match;The second, in the effects of pressing defense in the attacking third, the “regainpossession” got half of the total number, which included several indexes, these indexessuggested that offensive was the most significant purpose of applying the pressingdefense in the attacking third;The third, the of number of pressing defense in the attacking third of the first halfshowed lower than the second half, but there were not very significant.The fourth, the area of the front court accrued more often than other areas, but italso was the most misplay area among others;The fifth, applying pressing defense in the attacking third mainly depended on theforms of one to three players, and the form of one player taken up half of the totalnumber;The sixth, this paper made a comparative study on elite teams of the6thWomen’sWorld Cup that based on the theory and study method we have discussed before and thedifference between the elite teams were not notable;The last, this paper proposed few tentative theory that base on the indexes of the6thWomen’s World Cup.
