The purpose of this study is to validate the predictive validity of Senior High School Entrance English test in Fujian province by taking the English test in Quanzhou as a research object. Taking validity and predictive validity as the primary theoretical basis, the study reviews the studies conducted by researchers both at home and abroad on language testing theory and the proposition and validity of Senior High School Entrance English tests and College Entrance Examination. By comparing and analyzing the junior and senior high school English curriculum standards and the exam outlines and test specifications, conducting a questionnaire survey, analyzing academic performance of some excellent students in their senior high school and the relevance between the scores of the two exams of1936students, the present study tries to validate the predictive validity of Senior High School Entrance English test in Fujian province.The major findings of the study include:(1) On the whole the requirements of the English test for students is low but Senior High School Entrance English test has a great influence on English teaching. Teachers will adjust their teaching according to students’ performance.(2) The scores of Senior High School Entrance English Test suggest that students’English level affect their English learning in senior high schools.(3) Senior high school entrance English test has predictive validity to a certain degree in that it can validly predict test-takers’three-year high school learning and there is a significant correlation between the scores of Senior High School Entrance English test and that of College Entrance English test.The significance of this study, focusing on the predictive validity of Senior High School Entrance English test, lies in the enlightening for both test writers and English educators. As for test writers, it would serve as an important guidance for them to decide the difficulty of test papers. As for educators, it would be helpful for them to solve the main problems of the link-up of junior-senior English teaching.
