The aim of school English teaching is to develop students’ abilities of listening,speaking, reading and writing. Among which writing is put last, because it is moreimportance than the former ones, for it is a synthesis of them and reflection of thestudents’ knowledge of English and their ability. So teaching of writing is veryimportant in High Schools. However, in many places, especially those in the remoteunderdeveloped rural ones, like Tailai County Middle School, there are some problemsexist in teaching of writing for the lacking of teaching hardware and teaching methods,etc. Students in that school often speak and write Chinglish due to the influence oflanguage transfer. The characteristics of the problems make us to do the researchin-depth, and to find a appropriate solution to these problems.The present thesis tries toillustrate some suggestion in solution finding on the basis of Pragmatic MigrationTheory which will be hopefully beneficial for the teaching of Tailai County MiddleSchool.Pragmatic Transfer Theory is an important component of the Theory of SecondLanguage Acquisition. According to H.Ellis (1965)), Pragmatic Migration Theory is themost important theory of education theory and practice. It has an inseparablerelationship with Middle School English writing. The learning transfer refers to theinfluence from the learning of task A to the learning of task B. If task A is replaced bythe first language, the task B is replaced for second languages. Students who begin tolearn English, have already acquired their mother tongue Chinese fully, and the nativemode of thinking and pragmatic habit has been formed in their mind. So when theywrite in English, they usually produce Chinglish expression and make grammaticalmistakes with the influence of the Chinese way of thinking and habit. The thesis putsforward several strategies in copying with these problems, the strategies are as follow:1. Understanding of the role of mother tongue in language acquisition;2. Dialectical view of comparative analysis research method;3. Migration of dialectical grammar and language integrated, comprehensive view;4. Balancing cross-linguistic similarity and language specific;5. The use of consciousness in teaching; 6. Conducting research learning to improve learning transfer;7. Improving students’awareness of the language distance.The thesis has adopted the Theory of Pragmatic Transfer and made comparativeand quantitative analysis. The existing problems are analyzed, and some measures areput forward in English writing teaching at Tailai County Middle School. The analyticalfindings have certain theoretical and practical significance. We hope that thesesuggestions will provides certain theoretical basis for improving teachers’ teachingmethods, and meanwhile help to widen the scope of teachers’ theoretical knowledge.However, due to the limitation of time and knowledge, and other reasons, our researchdoes not give a thorough discussion on the relationship between the Theory ofLanguage Transfer and English writing teaching in rural middle school, so furtherresearch is still needed and improved...
