Professional Basketball League In Jiangsu Cultural Division Stands

Men’s professional basketball league is China’s top cross-year basketball league: hosted by Chinese Basketball Association (Abbr. CBA). The competition format of the league is home-away system. Every year the league attracts great attention of the audience around the country. The competition format of CBA is like that of NBA in which the league will run from November through April of the following year. It can be said that CBA is the best professional league and the most regulated one in terms of scale, management, operation and popularity of the league. Established in1996, the Club of Nanjing Steel Group is the team representing Jiangsu division which has participated in CBA for thirteen times. The club is a classic southern basketball team with such characteristics as comprehensive and delicate techniques, up-tempo offense, great shot, quick-footed movement, high percentage three point shots and many attacking points on court.Not only will the research on the Stand Culture of Jiangsu division of CBA promote the popularity of the game among the masses, it will also make significant influence on further stabilizing and expanding the impact of the game. The research meets both the demand of Green Sports and of audience for spiritual pursuits.Through research method such as reference investigation, interview for experts, audience and staff members, questionnaire survey, field observation, mathematical statistics and logical analysis, the author made a research on the Stand Culture of Jiangsu division of CBA and also made a definition and analysis of the concept, structure and characteristics of the Stand Culture. It can be found out in this paper that Stand Culture is a part of the mass culture. The people who back up the teams they like, applaud, yell, cheer, sadden and rage on stands of basketball courts are the creator of this kind of culture which we can call as Stand Culture. It features popularity, participatory, catharsis, conformity and guidance. Based on the definition of the Stand Culture, the author has made field observation in Jiangsu division. Main contents of the observation include the following three aspects:audience, management of the working staff by organizer, design of stands of basketball stadium. Conclusions and recommendations for improvement were given in this paper.
