Education is where a nation’s hope lies and it has a direct bearing on the future of a nation. The development of education is a must for the stability of society, the advancement of development and the enhancement of a nation’s comprehensive strength. Elementary education plays a crucial role in the whole process of education. However, with waves of continuous emergence of reforms in the elementary education, public schools among countries have risen a series of problems, such as the unbalanced distribution of education resources, the increasing rates of drop-outs, the insufficiency of schools’ revolving funds, the unreasonable schools’ managements, low qualities of teacher staff, the unscientific arrangements of courses etc., all of which have resulted in rather poor qualities of elementary education. Public schools are now confronting with more and more pressure. Under this circumstance, there appears a new educational model---community schools, which, to a certain extent, ease the crisis. They mainly serve for communities and schools and have received compliment from many countries of the world.Community schools in the U.S.A. first emerged in the1880s and afterwards, community schools in other countries develop one after another. Nevertheless, there come a lot of problems during the processes of their developments. The study mainly targets at introducing the historical developments and current situations of community schools in the U.S.; besides, it also analyzes the developing features of the model of education. Based on the development experience, it probes into the current problems of community schools in our country, like weak motives of cooperation, the lack of teaching staff and educational expenditure, the under-employment of community resources and further, puts forward some suggestions in light of these problems.
