Research On Structure Of ASEAN Overseas Students Educational Cost In Guangxi

With the increasing development of economic globalization and internationalization of higher education, education of overseas students brought enormous benefits, regardless of the benefits from the political, economic or cultural, to the countries which received overseas students. Because of the establishment of China-ASEAN Free Trade Area, especially China-ASEAN Expo will be permanently settled in Nanning, education of ASEAN students in Guangxi is in a historically unprecedented period of opportunity. The research on structure of ASEAN overseas students’ educational cost in Guangxi can promote the resources of education best used, and speed up the development process of the internationalization of higher education in Guangxi. Thus, there is too much practical and theoretical significance to carry out the study.The study was carried out by the methods of literature, commencement of questionnaires, interviews and statistical analysis. First of all, the property of the International Education was defined according to the theories of "Public Goods" and " Externality". The subjects and necessity about educational cost-sharing of ASEAN students in Guangxi is cleared by the theory of "cost-sharing of Higher Education". Secondly, parts of ASEAN overseas students in Guangxi were surveyed and in-depth interviews. The first-hand data was used to analyze factors that affected the choice of ASEAN students to choose which school they should go for a study and the conditions of study and living. Though the survey, there comes the result that short of the subject of educational cost-sharing of foreign students in Guangxi, lack of government scholarships, self-financed students are mainly responsible for paying the educational cost of oversea students, which with low sharing capacity, and universities and enterprises lack the awareness of educational cost-sharing of overseas students.On the basis of research, aiming at the problem of structure of ASEAN overseas students’educational cost in Guangxi, and analyzing the current situation of educational cost-sharing of overseas students in the United States, Britain, and Japan. Finally, based on the advanced experience of the three countries, conclusion is raised as governments, universities and society must be involved in the sharing of the educational cost of foreign students, and the corresponding countermeasures are also given for each subject on how to share the cost.
