The Influence Of National Tourism On Ethnic Community Construction

Community construction is an important measure to balance urban and ruraldevelopment and promote economic and social construction, which is also significant toupgrade social service and management at grass-roots level. National tourism puts newimpetus to our national community construction, and it becomes a booster for theconstruction of our ethnic minority areas. Based on the research findings of the relatednational tourism and community construction at home and aboard, this thesis exploresnational tourism from economic, social, cultural and ecological aspects. On the basis ofthe current influence of national tourism on community construction, amounts ofliterature have been read and a questionnaire survey functioned as the focus has beenmade, supplemented with in-depth talk. The subject of this study is Xijiang Village inKaiLi city Guizhou province. Firstly, the author introduces the history,culture andtourism development status of the Xijiang; Analysis of the practice of the communityconstruction; It comes to a conclusion as follows: economically, national tourismoptimizes community economic industrial structure, increases the income of thecommunity residents and promotes material and spiritual civilization; socially, itperfects the community system of public service. With favorable social security, thedevelopment of tourism boosts social mobility and it gradually makes socialstratification more explicit, altering the intimacy of interpersonal relationship to someextent; culturally, on one hand, it revives and promotes the traditional culture andenhances the confidence in national culture, on the other hand, it makes the commercialvalue of traditional culture prominent and there appears severe culturalcommercialization; environmentally, it destroys the environment and deteriorates thelocal air quality. Water resource pollution is noticeable, and great attention has beenpaid to the exploration and protection of ecological environment.It summarizes the influence of national tourism in Xijiang Village on communityconstruction, pointing that it transforms the means of livelihood of the communityresidents and improves their life quality to some extent. But the secular lifestyle has animpact on the intimate interpersonal relationship net. With the gradual openness ofsocial structure, social mobility will become frequent and social stratification will beexplicit. Cultural assimilation and commercialization ought to be highly valued in the process of national tourism development. It deteriorates the original ecologyenvironment of the national community, so importance should be attached to theprotection of community ecological environment in the process of national tourismexploration. Problems for the Xijiang community building in the context of nationaltourism development,the author pointed out that: The combination of Government topromote and community involvement, injecting the power for the national tourismdevelopment and community building; Improving the community services, to promoteCommunity social life environment and interpersonal harmony; Improveing nationalcultural consciousness, inherit and carry forward the fine traditional culture; Strengthencommunity residents’ awareness of environmental protection, and promote thesustainable development of community tourism.From the angle of social development, national tourism is conducive to promotecommunity construction in minority areas. However, national tourism is merely oneinfluencing factor in community construction. To accelerate the process of communityconstruction in minority areas, people should make full use of social resources andenhance the level of community management and service.
