The Research On Undergraduate’s Cultivation Of National Defense Consciousness

The undergraduate, as an excellent group of young generation, has an important taskof building the motherland and is a backbone power of promoting future societydevelopment. The national defense consciousness of undergraduate can be expressedby good values, group consciousness and the sense of responsibility of states andsociety, so it can be suggested that emphasis on the undergraduate’s developmentwork of national defense consciousness is a significant part of enhancing the overallnational strength. Recent years, universities and colleges across the whole country iscommitted to the reform of ideological and political education, and fiercely discussthe national defense education and how to enhance student’s national defenseconsciousness. Meanwhile, these universities also have contribution on thequantitative research of nature and characteristic of national defense consciousness.Socialist core value system, as a major theoretical innovation on the ideological andcultural construction of the communist party of China, represents the gradual matureof the ideology of socialism with Chinese characteristic and high theoreticalsignificance as well as value of the times. This paper discuss the nurture workdevelopment of undergraduate national defense consciousness in the creativeperspective of socialist core value system, with the hope of increasing the era valueand social significance of national defense education.Firstly, this paper investigates the basic connotation of national defense consciousnessand socialist core value system and its significance for undergraduate’s growth. Theauthor starts with the connotation of national defense consciousness to respectivelyexplore based on summary of existing research that the national defenseconsciousness has high significance of enhancing the nation quality and maintainingthe social stability as well as promoting national development, combined with theanalysis of undergraduate’s characteristic. The analysis highlights the necessity andurgency of enhancing national defense consciousness education in the university andcollege through its importance. Secondly, this paper analyzes the existed problems of university student’s nationaldefense consciousness issues and challenges faced when national defense education.These analyses mainly begin with the aspects of era characteristics such as changes ofChina’s social transformation and effects brought from globalization. This paperalso illustrates why the socialist core value system is the latest ideological theory toguide the cultivation of undergraduate’s national defense consciousness.At last, it is summarized from two levels of ideology and specific operating in thisstudy. This research also proposes strategies and methods, both heritage andinnovation of enhancing cultivation of university’s national defense consciousness,which strive to adapt to the characteristic of times.
