Study On The Behavior Characteristics Of The Leisure Sports Among The Office Ladies

With the reform and opening up together with the sustainable rapid developmentof economy, there is an increasing employment rate among the female and more andmore female work on the professional, technical or managerial position, forming agroup with professional characteristic—office lady. High pressure and lack of exercise,however, have caused some bed effects on the female both in physical and mentalhealth and made them suffer from occupational diseases and chronic diseases. Anincreasing number of office ladies have participated in the leisure sports embracingthe advent of leisure times. Therefore, it has become a social hot spot to study on thebehavior characteristics of leisure sports among the office ladies, a special group.The paper applies research methods like document research, questionnairemethod, interviewing method and mathematical statistics method to carry out study on326office ladies in Xuhui District of Shanghai and312office ladies in DechengDistrict of Dezhou, Shandong Province respectively. The purpose is to have a basicunderstanding of the development of the leisure sports in the two areas through thestudy; based on the demography, to have analysis and comparative studies to the twokinds of characteristics of leisure sports through the relationship among factors likedifferent geographic environment, living habits, economic status, cultural backgroundand social development; to explore the commonness and differences in the ways ofleisure sports of the office ladies in two areas and influential factors restraining theleisure sports and analyze the reasons that cause the differences. The theoreticalmeaning of the paper lies in that it introduces the angle of gender in to the study of theleisure sports. At present, there isn’t much intensive study on some certain specialgroup from the leisure perspective in the academic circle, for most of the study iscarried out from some aspect of the leisure. And through the intensive and thoroughstudy to the special group, the office ladies, people can get a comprehensiveunderstanding to the group, knowing the other side of the group. It will be helpful toimprove the study on the female, offering my humble effort for the emerging study onthe leisure sports. The practical meaning of the paper is that it reveals thecommonness and individual features of the behavior characteristics of leisure sportsamong the office ladies in the two areas through the comparison and exploration ofthe cases, providing referential theoretical and pragmatic suggestions on thedevelopment of the leisure sports among the office ladies by their behaviorcharacteristics of leisure sports in different areas. And the research results are thefollowings:1. The leisure sports among the office ladies in Xuhui District of Shanghai theoffice ladies in Decheng District of Dezhou, Shandong Province are different becauseof the differences in ages, marriage status, educational level, posts and income.Difference：a. Office ladies in different ages face different tasks and are affected by the agein the interest and motive in participation of the leisure sports.b. The office ladies with higher post and income spend more money on leisuresports. c. The married office ladies pay more attention on the family life that those whoare unmarried.d. The office ladies with higher educational level have more diversified motive inthe participation of leisure sports and spend more money.e. The office ladies with higher post focus more on the self-development in theleisure way and venues than the others.Commonalities:(1) there is no relationship between the leisure venue selection and marital statusof the two urban white-collar female;(2) there is no difference between the two urban white-collar female leisuresports motivation and marriage;(3) there is no different between the two urban white-collar female cognition ofthe importance for the leisure sports.2. Environment and income, participation attitude, family are among therestraining factors in the participation of leisure sports for the office ladies in XuhuiDistrict.3. It is clear in the comparative study on the behavior characteristics of leisuresports among the office ladies in two districts that:a. There are differences in the leisure way and choice of the kind of lleisuresports. The office ladies in Xuhui District have more leisure in cultural entertainment,delight and health building, tourism and fashionable, exciting sports, while theircounterparts have more leisure in the companion of parents, visit of friends, wushulike taiji.b. There is difference in the choice of leisure venue in that the office ladies inDecheng District apt to the free venues or venues with low fee.c. There is difference in the expenditure of leisure sports in that the office ladiesin Decheng District spend less money in the leisure sports.d. There is difference in the participation motive in that the office ladies in XuhuiDistrict focus more on the cultivation of the sport skills.e. There is difference in the choice of companions in that the office ladies inDecheng District choose there families as the companions while their counterpartschoose coaches.
