For many years, the teaching of English grammar in Chinese seniorhigh schools has been time-consuming but not effective because toomuch attention has been paid to the form rather than the use of thelanguage. With the adoption of the new "Standards of EnglishC"’urriculum, the cultivation of students ability to use the language hasbecome the new overall objective of our English courses. Unfortunately,however, there has arisen another undesirable tendency of neglecting theform.of the language while too much emphasis is put on its use.Following the constructivist and cognitive-communicative approach,this pape put forward the appropriate ways of grammar teaching bycombining "form, meaning and”use with the purpose of enhancing theefficiency of grammar teaching in senior high schools. It gives equalattention to the effective teaching of grammar rules and the proper use ofthe language so as to help the students turn their language knowledge intolanguage skills.Through the experiment of the senior high school English grammarteaching reform in classroom, this article studies how to implement themethod of the combination form, meaning, use in high school Englishgrammar teaching and the teaching model can significantly improve thestudents’ English learning interest, learning ability and English grammarlearning. The research methods adopted include questionnaire survey andtest. This study and the experimental results show that the method makethe students use the originally rigid grammar rules in the vivid context forteachers to complete the classroom tasks designed by teachers. Students’interest in learning English grammar has changed. Their grades have alsoimproved. More importantly, they have had the ability of long-termdevelopment.The paper consists of five chapters. The research background, research objective and significance and the related research at home andaboard is brielfy introduced in chapter one. chapter two is about thetheoretical basis. Chapter three discus the experimental research. With thehelp of a teaching example, this chapter also illustrates how to apply thegrammar teaching method of combination of form, meaning and use insenior high school.
