Lexical cohesion means the meaning relation between two words or more in one sentenceor more sentences, in order to achieve continuity by creating a chain in a chapter by choosingand using words.Therefore, we knows that lexical cohesion plays a big role in creating anarticle and making sentences. Does it means that it will helps the students to improve theirwriting ability once they master such a skill.Based on related theory and achievements, we made further study on lexical cohesion forhigh school students’ compositions in three aspects such as, method, length and distance forlexical cohesion for compositions for same topic on different levels, and same level indifferent styles.According to study on compositions on same topic for different levels, we came topreliminary conclusions as follows,1. It is quite popular among high school students’compositions for simple repeat of the same word or words of the same meaning. The otherthree methods of cohesion are seldom used.2. The quantity, length for lexical cohesion ismore in higher level compositions than lower levels. Simple repeat of words is less in higherlevel compositions than lower levels.We came to following conclusions via lexical cohesion study of different compositions forsame level,1. Quantity for lexical cohesion is most, and length for lexical cohesion is thelongest in lyrics, then, argumentation, and then, narration.2. The proportion for synonymousis just less than taxonomic relations in argumentation..
