Questioning is a kind of teaching skill, which is widely used in practice. Whether its using properly would affect the quality of teaching directly, so it is called "the life of teaching". In the English class for primary school students, a decent,exquisite and artistic question would have a meaning and positive influence on teaching.At present, researches on questioning mainly focus on the classification, strategies and effectiveness. What’s more, researchers pay more attention to the high grade, while few studies aims to the primary shool. The existing researches, which are mostly from teachers’personal experience, have certain applicability but little universality. Therefore, the study types questioning in primary school English class as the breakthrough point, try to analyze the existing problems on questioning in primary school English class by observing, recording, summarizing and arranging for the teacher’s raising questions. In addition, in order to discover the existing problems in primary school English class fully, analyse the causes of the problems deeply, summarize the generally applicable questioning strategies and put forward some suggestions for further improvement, interview would be used as the reference.The results of the analysis of the cases:factual questions were used widely. Most questions were in low level and focused on the process of teaching. Task-based questions were used but not more. Teachers prefered asking individuals to the all.The result of the interview showed that teachers had a certain understanding of questioning but not systematically. Questioning was an activity between the teacher and the students, and the core of this activity is the students. Teachers prefered to ask the certain individual to answer the question. Questions focused on the main and difficult teaching points. Teachers would encounter some interference, such as the students, the atmosphere of classroom, the question itself and so on.Therefore, the current situation of questioning in primary school English class was optimistic. In addition, teachers could recognize its influences on the students, and tried to adjust their ways of questioning in practice.According to the results of the research, some suggestions were given as follws.First of all, Before the class, teachers should consider the teaching content and students’ level. In the class, teachers should change the questions flexibly according to the real situation. After class, teachers should reflect in time. Secondly, give the relative training to the teachers. Thirdly, change the evaluation measure.Hope this research would help the English teachers in the primary school.
