China Basketball Association (CBA) has experienced17seasons,foreign players as a product of the reform of the CBA also have developedinto an important part of the organization, up to350foreign players came to the CBAcompetition since2000. Excellent foreign players promote the improvement thecompetitive level of CBA and inject a new force for the rapid development of China’sbasketball career. However, CBA is still in the preliminary stages of development,there are still some problems in the introduction and management of foreign players,to some extent hindered the healthy development of the league. Therefore, this articlefinished a deeper study of foreign player base on the summarizes of the results of theprevious studies and proposing a sustainability suggestion which is considered tohave some practical significance and can provide a theoretical reference to improvethe regulation for foreign players.This article analyzed the introduce system, the range of characteristics,management practices, positive and negative affect of foreign players by Literaturedata, expert interviews, video or on-site observation, mathematical statistics or logicalanalysis, the results are as follows:1. Basketball Association and Basketball Administration Center modify theregulation of the introduction and use of foreign players according to the actualsituation. CBA issued a series of stringent restrictions policy for the introduction way,usage, salary requirements and other aspects of foreign players, as affected by theeconomic strength of the clubs, the culture of basketball reserves as well as otherfactors. With the improvement of the league level, the policy of restrictions onforeign players will be gradually loose.2. The foreign players of CBA come from various countries and regions of theworld, but mainly American players, the introduction of the range is too centralized;Field position initially tall inside, while the introduction of striker and defender playeris increased since the recent seasons, CBA adjusts the introduction number of theposition players according to the requires of the clubs and the number of introductiontend to be stable. Compared with domestic players, foreign players have certainadvantages in points, rebounds, dunks, blocks, etc. With the increase in the number ofthe introduction of outstanding striker and linebacker, the advantage of foreign players in the three points, assists, steals has also been enhanced.3. The regulation for the registration system, payroll management, transfer system,playing time requirements of foreign players developed by CBA, to some extentstandardize the club administration method for the foreign players, However, due tothe cultural differences and some of the players low moral quality and other factorsled to violations of the discipline by foreign players have been happening repeatedly,in this regard, the foreign players administration method need to be improved.4. The introduction of foreign players push forward the internationalization of theCBA, and expand the influence of the league; Enhance the intensity of the game,and improved its pleasing to eyes; Attract more viewers, led the the league market’sdevelopment; Promote cultural exchanges in basketball, and China basketball adaptto the international basketball development standards; Bring the advanced basketballphilosophy, and promote the domestic players to enhance the sense of competition;Improve the strength of the team, and promote the upgrading of the leaguecompetitive level.5. As every coin has two sides, at the same time, the introduction of foreignplayers in the league to play a positive role inevitably also produced some negativeeffects: Salaries are too high, impose a heavy economic burden to the club; Somepoor ethics players difficult to manage; Reduce the exercise opportunity for domesticplayers, affect the cultivation of reserve talents; Language communication barriersaffect the team performance; Imperfect management system and make a differencebetween foreign players create a negative effect upon them.To solve the above problem, we recommend CBA to develop a more long-termnature of the introduction system to enable the club to achieve long-term planning forthe foreign players; Each club should be expand the introduction range of foreignplayers, to introduce the foreign players in different style and location; Managementagencies should foster professional managerial talents, continuously improve policiesand regulations, adopt humanized management; Club should diversify the mode ofoperation, enhance economic efficiency; Increase training of foreign players, enhancesense of responsibility and belonging; Strengthen the culture of domestic basketballreserves, thereby enhancing our own power, to attract a higher level players to join, and advance the pace of Basketball Professionalism in China to promote thesustainable development of the CBA.
