This thesis aims at studying the current state of language learning strategy use among172Grade One students in one senior high school in Tianjin, and it also aims at investigating their individual differences in learning strategy use in terms of gender, time duration, school type and English test scores on Senior High School Entrance Examination. Quantitative research was conducted and the data were processed by using the statistical analyzing software SPSS17.0. The results reflected that the most frequently used language learning strategies by these students were compensation strategies and memory strategies were the least frequently used language learning strategies. Also, the empirical data in this research suggested that the students varied significantly in their use of language learning strategy. And the factors that contributed to these significant differences were gender, time duration, school type, and English test score on Senior High School Entrance Examination. The findings provided a basis for Grade One English teachers in this school as to how to conduct language learning strategy training in their future teaching, and it also provided some empirical support for the researchers who want to carry out studies on individual differences or language learning strategies. |
