Since the new reform of curriculum, the status of teachers and students in the class hasgradually been changing, classroom questioning has been more and more important.Classroom questioning, a traditional teaching skill, plays an invaluable role in the Englishclassroom. It can be used as a kind of classroom interaction to strengthen the communicationbetween teachers and students, students and students, and then to promote effective Englishclassroom teaching. In this study, the means of the study consists of three methods--questionnaire, classroom observation and interview. The subjects of the study are the SeniorOne students in Zhangzhou No.1Middle School,Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province. This paperattempts to answer the following questions:(1)What are the main types of English classroom questions in Senior One?(2)How long does the wait-time of English classroom questions have in Senior One?(3)What kind of students does the English teachers tend to ask questions in Senior One?(4)Is the teacher’s feedback of English classroom questioning proper or not for Englishclassroom teaching in Senior One?With the data of questionnaire and class observation analyzed by factor ananlysis ofSPSS and charts of EXCEL as well as interview,I find that the main factors of the Englishclassroom questioning can be shown as follows:(1)The types of questions;(2)The forms ofthe questions;(3)Wait-time;(4)Teachers’feedback.The research can help teachers to find their problems in teaching,improve theirprofessional skills,strengthen classroom interaction and achieve better teaching effect.
