The Impacts Of Traffic Condition Changes On The Rural Life-ways:

Transportation system plays a crucial role on the aspects of an area’s politics, economy and culture. The changes of traffic conditions have a significant impact on the structures of living, ways to communicate, and people’s understanding of life, as well as the their attitude toward life, especially on life styles. And in this thesis it refers to the influence on rural life styles. Therefore, from sociological perspectives, this dissertation applies sociological methods to discover the relationship between changes of traffic conditions and factors related to rural people’s life styles. And this will promote the development of the rural economy and have a positive role on its people’s life styles, which is significant for us to build well-off society and speed up the construction of new countryside characterized by socialism.In the background of new rural construction, this thesis was carried out in three villages in the west of Hubei province and their developments are restricted by traffic conditions. Through field research and historical comparisons as well as interviews with local famers, this thesis draws conclusions that the improvements of traffic conditions have a positive effect on famers’life styles and has a general ideal about local people’s life homogeneity, consumption habits, leisure time allocation, social interactions, levels of political participation and social notions and so on. The main content of this article consists of five parts:Firstly, traffic conditions have a significant influence on ethnic minority areas, especially their economic development and national concepts, which can be learned through literature review; Second, mathematical models has been established to examine the impact exerted on the changes of rural life styles by the improvement of traffic conditions, which provides a good reason for the establishment of a healthy, civilized and harmonious rural life style; Thirdly, the analysis of rural life styles in west of Hubei province. This thesis was conducted from five main aspects which includes natural environment, production modes, traffic environments, local tradition and social effects, and describes the changing process of life styles in the past thirty years and makes realistic comparisons. Then, the main character of traffic condition changes of rural life styles reflects on consumption concepts which are influenced by the changes of external environment greatly and transform from traditional way to modern style. The use of leisure time and the way of social communication have become increasingly diversified, and their homogeneousness is weakened. Meanwhile, with the improvement of traffic conditions and levels of residents’ political participation, local people’s life concepts is changing and making a lot of progress; Last, through function analysis of the impact of the changes of traffic condition on rural life style, the consequences are mainly positive on economic development and social progress. But inevitably some negative effects are included. Therefore, this thesis focuses on the impact the improvements of the traffic conditions exerted on rural life styles, and provides a reasonable reference and a value model for the establishment of a "scientific, civilized, healthy and harmonious" modern rural life style and it also promotes harmonious development of society and facilitates smooth construction of new countryside.
