Elementary school science is an organic integrity integrated of educational elements such as subjects, activities, environments, etc. Elementary school science education has great influence on promoting China’s quality-oriented education. This research is divided into two parts, the first part has taken various elementary schools and their science teachers of Hunan Changsha as objects to make study of the current situation of Changsha elementary school science teaching; the second part has taken the students of the Sixth Grade of Changsha Mingde Lugu School as objects to make following-up investigation and analysis of its elementary school science teaching for the influence on students science thinking ability. This study has employed several research methods such as documents, questionnaire investigation, case study method,etc. The research results and related suggestions are as follows:The research results show:(1) The current situation of science teaching in Changsha elementary schoolEducation levels of Changsha Science teachers have been improved compared with before; the science teaching facilities by the government have been obviously increased; the training of teachers makes full use of local resources; there are various classroom teaching models and their effects are improved than before. However, there are still some problems of Changsha elementary school science teaching, which mainly display as follows:the teaching stuff is not in order without strong professionalization; the school’s teaching hour is inadequate so as to fail to complete the normal teaching task; teaching facilities are not equipped well, which leads to the difficulty of developing experiments smoothly; the classroom efficiency is not high with hollow teaching contents; evaluation system is not perfect, which leads to the low enthusiasm of teachers.(2)Investigation results of elementary school students’scientific literacyThe surveyed students have strong curiosity and exploring consciousness in scientific exploration, outstanding expression and communication ability and they also modestly listen to others opinions on scientific attitude. These pupils have persistent scientific inquiry with strong social sense of responsibility and certain critical thinking ability, and also are good at cooperating with others. However, they do not have wide channels to obtain knowledge and their ability of using measuring tools and logical thinking ability need to be strengthened.(3) Influence of elementary school science teaching on students Science thinking abilityFirst, elementary Science score has dominant influence on the Science score of Grade Seven; second, the influence of elementary Science score on the Biology score of first-year junior high school is bigger than that of Math; third, the Science score of first-year junior high school has to some extent been influenced by the elementary Math score; fourth, the influence of elementary Math score on the elementary Science score is negligible. Generally speaking, elementary Science teaching has obviously promoted the development of students Science thinking ability.Targeted at above situations, this paper has put forward several suggestions as follows:(1) Stabilizing teaching stuff is the basis of doing well in Science teaching;(2) Adequate teaching hour is the guarantee of curriculum implementation;(3) Perfecting teaching facilities is the key of doing well in Science teaching;(4) Strengthening the teaching research is the life source of Science teaching;(5) Combining with other subjects to achieve the win-win goal;(6) Perfecting evaluation mechanism plays a crucial role in improving the teaching quality.
