Trigonometric functions as an important part of high school mathematics in theAs an important part of high school mathematics, Trigonometric function plays animportant role in the high school mathematics learning and in daily life. Although thenew round of curriculum reform is going on, teaching material also conducted acomprehensive change, trigonometric function related content also has many changes.But the position of trigonometric function in the high school mathematics is stillimportant. Despite the trigonometric function is so important, but in the process ofpractical teaching of trigonometric function, there exist many problems, especially aseries of difficulties still existing in learning trigonometric functions. Therefore, it isnecessary to explore the problems existing in the learning process and analyzes itsforming reasons as well as put forward the corresponding countermeasures.The main problems in this paper are: what kinds of problems are existing amongordinary county senior three liberal arts students when they understand the process ofstudying the trigonometric functions? What is the cause of these problems? Accordingto these problems, what kind of reasonable suggestion can be put? By reading therelated books, papers and journals on “Research on Trigonometric FunctionUnderstanding of Liberal Arts students”, I summarized the basic content oftrigonometric functions, characteristics and teaching requirements and mathematicalunderstanding. And then by using the questionnaire survey and test researchinvestigation, I combed the knowledge of trigonometric function module andcompiled into test. The author compiled questionnaire in view of the possibleproblems in the process of learning through the survey of senior grade three100Liberal Arts students and taking statistics to students’ answers, sorting, classification,sorts through the data analysis, the conclusions are as follows.Problems existing in the Trigonometric function:(1) the difficulties tounderstand the concept of trigonometric function for students, especially the image characterization of understanding, such as not knowing the geometric meaning of theunit circle, not being good at using the unit circle, easy to overlook the directed linesegment.(2) not firm in formula memory, not flexibility in using, especially theproblems in the selection of formula and of inverse using the formula.(3) superficialunderstanding in the nature of the trigonometric function image, not from the simplesttrigonometric function transition to more complicated trigonometric functions.(4)chaos in image transformation, especially about translation transformation and scalingtransformation.(5) the difficulties in the practical application of trigonometricfunction, mainly lying in building the mathematical model, can not extract effectiveinformation in the actual problems.On the basis of the above research results, the author puts forward somesuggestions of trigonometric function in view of the high school teaching.
