A lot of previous studies indicate that teacher written corrective feedback has an important effect on the improvement of the English learners’ writing ability. What are the effects of different teacher feedback types on writing accuracy? Which kind of feedback form should be provided by the teacher? The domestic and foreign studies answering the two questions mentioned above are relatively limited. In addition, the empirical studies which attempt to investigate the effects of teacher written corrective feedback on the improvement of the writing accuracy of Chinese learners at the high level and the low level in English writing are few. The present study aims to explore the effects of teacher written corrective feedback on the writing accuracy of Chinese learners at the high and the low levels in English writing and examine whether the direct corrective feedback and the indirect corrective feedback lead the learners to improve their linguistic accuracy, answering which kind of written corrective feedback-direct corrective feedback or indirect corrective feedback-is more effective in improving the writing accuracy of students at two different levels. This study lasts for ten weeks. A total of40Grade-12students in Zhoukou Senior High School are selected as the participants from two parallel classes. A pretest, a posttest, an experiment and a questionnaire are conducted to answer the research questions. The major findings from the empirical study and the questionnaire are as follows:1) Written corrective feedback is effective in improving the writing accuracy of two different level students, whether it is direct or indirect.2) For the students at a high level in English writing, it cannot be confirmed which kind of written corrective feedback is better in improving their writing accuracy.3) For the students at a low level in English writing, direct corrective feedback is more effective than indirect corrective feedback in improving their writing accuracy.4) The students affirm the importance of written corrective feedback, but they spend little time on revising their writings and do not attend to concentrate on the feedback.
