The task of radar is to detect the state parameters of target distance, direction and speed, which has a wide rang of applications on military and civilian fields. Radar seeker is to detect the target signal, extract information and form control instructions. Since radar has more categories, this thesis is to design a control system for radar seeker target simulator aimed at a certain type of radar.The test bed is used for radar seeker ground test equipment, which test radar indicators automatically, control and correspond radar with signal source and target simulator. In order to verify the radar’s tracking performance, control system is designed to ensure precise movement of target simulator.Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) is a kinds of universal industrial control devices based on microprocessor, which represents the current electrical control of the world’s advanced level. PLC has widely used in petroleum, chemical, electrical, mechanical manufacturing, automobile, textile and other industries for its perfect function, high reliability and flexible combination. In the thesis, Mitsubishi Q series PLC was chose to be as the main controller and configured the motion module and communication module. At the same time, linear interpolation algorithm was used to control precise movements of target simulator. The electrical principle diagrams were designed, and ladder diagram of control system was programmed using Mitsubishi’s MELSEC programming software which included communication software, fixed-point operation software, confirmation of mechanical zero position and calculation ladder program. In the simulation environment of PLC, the parameters were set and debugged. Finally, the system precision was verified under the conditions of different speed and distance. The results show that the control system based on PLC has high precision which can effectively guarantee the radar seeker test bed on the radar’s performance testing.
