With the rapid socio-economic development, tourism gradually become a part of people’s daily life. At the same time, the people put forward higher requirements on the form of tourism, service level, etc. The virtual tourism based on virtual reality technology with its unique advantages meets the diverse needs of the people at the present stage. Virtual tour’s experience, immersion and ease of use injects new vitality into the development of tourism. As a new phenomenon, the theory and practice development of virtual tour is still in the exploratory stage, and virtual tourism’s exact meaning, the main direction of development in the future is unclear. Only practice still prove that the prospects for the development of the virtual tour are bright, so at the present stage, all angles for research on virtual tour have important theoretical and practical significance. This paper studies how to realize3D electronic map problems. As the effective geographic information carrier, the map is that people use to understand the world and analyze geographic information. The flat and symbolic features of traditional two-dimensional maps unable to meet the needs of information expression in the three-dimensional world; the three-dimensional virtual scene with realistic environment is often disoriented. The combination of both can achieve complementary advantages. This paper first describes the origin and development of virtual reality technology, deals with virtual reality technology applications in tourism, and then discusses the characteristics and advantages of the virtual tour, and analyzes the basic technical issues of virtual scene. After, according to user needs and influencing factors of the virtual reality system, on the basis of the three-dimensional model of the Lama Temple, this paper realized3D electronic map system of Lama Temple. Last, the article summarizes the work.
