With the rapid development of computer graphics technology, the world has made great progresses in the field of3D terrain visualization technology. Three-dimensional GIS now has been used in many aspects, such as geology, mining city. More and more enterprises and institutions engaged in the research and development of software modeling,3D terrain visualization theory.This paper firstly introduces the significance of the research of3D terrain of the research background and the research status both at home and abroad, then gives the present main focus of this paper and the main innovation points.Second this paper studied the technology of3D visualization, realized3D coordinates, three-dimensional geometry transform,3D scene establishment. three-dimensional geometry transformation includes translation, scaling and rotation transformation. Based on the latitude and longitude of algorithm, we studied the algorithm of implementation methods. Then this paper realized the digital terrain modeling, which included using different software tools to get the data of digital elevation model and transforming them to gray images and how to use the gray image to create3D model. The main work of this paper is the realization of3D visualization based on the content above, including the realization of translation, rotation and roaming. At the same time this paper Studies how to call Three-dimensional model to and how to realize the3D visualization based on Opengl, at last this paper designes the function of the software including displaying, roaming, and transforming from. All above realized the initial model of the software.Finally the article gives the running environment of the software, and the running results. The results shows that the design of the software is feasible.
