Ad Hoc networks are becoming the hot issues of Internet development. AdHoc networks have been used in Vehicular networks. And combined with WLAN,they are able to provide wireless connection for equipments in short distancewithout human control. With the rapid development of the wireless communication,Ad Hoc networks will have abroader application as well. And for a long time, routing protocol has been an issue under heated discussion and with great difficultyin the research of Ad Hoc networks. In the first part: As a special type of mobile Ad hoc network, VANET hasincreasingly become an attractive technology in terms of safety driving andcomfortable network services provided to vehicular users. However, high mobilityof vehicular nodes in VANET makes network topology changing frequently, andthis makes route unavailability and causes high data packet loss. In this paper, taking vehicle density, moving direction and speed into consideration, a newrouting strategy based on GPSR routing protocol is proposed. Compared with theexisted ones, it has three differences:1) The special Hello Packet is designed withthe functionality of setting precisely one-hop neighboring vehicles within thetransmission range of the current node;2) Set priority on the current vehicle’sone-hop neighbors and select the next hop forwarder that may not be closest to thedestination, the distance and velocity are taken into consideration;3) Take the"Quorum" as a buffer and reforward the data packet to solve the local maximumproblem. VanetMobiSim is used to build the simulation scenario and theperformance of the proposed routing strategy is compared with GPSR and AODVon network simulator NS2. The results indicate that the improved GPSR routingstrategy presented in the paper has better performance. The second part introduces the way how to realize AODV routing protocolbased on Linux platform, according to the project requirement. Firstly, the functionof Linux and realization mechanism of AODV will be research, which is thefoundation of embedded development on multi-hop Ad Hoc. Then the hardwareplatform has been introduced, including the way how to up-grate Linux kernel, which will enable AODV to boot up on Linux platform. And then method how to transport USB Wireless Network Adapter driver is described, which will make theUSB Wireless Network Adapter runnable, and this is the foundation of wirelesscommunication. Finally the method how to transport AODV routing protocol isdescribed and performance tests are also taken.
