| Millimeter wave plays an important role in the electronic system due to its unique advantages. It has important academic value to do research on the millimeter devices. Frequency multiplying technique which can expands the microwave to millimeter and sub-millimeter wave is an effective way to generate W-band wave. It also improves the stability and reliability of the system.The properties of millimeter wave and some methods which can access it have been described and analysed. The latest development trends of frequency multipliers and amplifiers have been summarized. According to the realistic conditions, the thesis proposes that using cascade method and MMIC chip to design the device. The module consists of five parts:frequency doubler, filter, pre-amplifier, tripler, power amplifier. Simulation, optimization and test have been done after fixing each parts of the circuit. To increase the efficiency and accuracy, the project combining the HFSS and ADS to design the band-pass filter, microstrip to waveguide probe transition structure and W-band tripler. To simplify the structure, the AMMC-5040chip has been used to fabricate the doubler and pre-amplifier. Considering the band, dimension and processing technology, the paper utilizes the band-pass filter which is constituted by direct coupled stubs can suppress the fundamental and third harmonics. The simulation result show that insertion loss is below0.5dB, the out-of-band rejection is above20dB. The anti-parallel diode pairs which used to suppress even harmonics can decrease the size and improve the band. For the W-band lies in the high frequency band, it’s hard to process and assemble the circuits. Its relevant notes have been discussed at the end of the thesis.The measurement shows that the output power of the sextupler is better than-8dBm, meanwhile, it is higher than0dBm in the band of75~80GHz and93~101GHz. The output power of the module is better than0dBm in the band of75~104GHz, the maximum point is8.5dBm.The module which has the advantages in band, dimension, output power and harmonic rejection can be used to provide high quality for local oscillator of the millimeter wave. |
