In order to ensure the Microwave Radar stable, reliable, time ly and accuratelywork, it is necessary to give it a rigorous testing during the development and theproduction process. This research focuses on the research and development of aground testing system for the Microwave Radar, in order to achieve an effic ient anddetailed test for the radar, to improve the effic iency and shorten the developmentcycle, to ensure the successful completion of the development of the MicrowaveRadar.The topic of the microwave radar ground testing system is composed of twoparts: the microwave radar test bench and data acquis ition and storage unit. The testbench, which consists of PXI chassis, embedded controller, functiona l board usedfor testing and upper computer software written by LabVIEW, is used to fulfillcommunications testing, functional verification, data analys is and humaninteraction. The data acquis ition and storage unit is an independent chassis, whichis composed of a single test board with a dedicated casing and ma inly used forcommunications testing, analog data acquis ition and GPS location informationreceiveing in outfield experiments.After detailed analysis of the microwave radar’s test requirement for hardwareand software, we comp leted the overall design scheme of the whole system, anddescribed the key technologies of the software and hardware design. Detailedintroduce the DMA data transfer technologies used in the synchronous seria lcommunication, the hardware timing technology and time synchronizationtechnology for communication links used in asynchronous RS-422communicationcard, and GPS positioning and board-leve l storage technology used in dataacquisition and storage unit, the producers and consumers structure and VISAdrivers used in LabVIEW software platform, and also achieve the control of systemusing LabVIEW.Microwave radar ground testing system has been successfully used inmicrowave radar laboratory testing, environmental testing and field tria ls. The result of the application shows that the microwave radar groun testing system canachieve comprehensive testing of the microwave radar in accordance with the testrequirements, and the microwave radar test system has high reliability, and canprovide the basis for microwave radar’s performance assessment.
