Along with the evolution from telecommunications, broadcasting network and Internetto broadband telecommunications, digital broadcasting network and next generation Internet,convergence will continue be vigorously prompted. For the purpose of realizing convergencebased on HFC (Hybrid Fiber Coaxial) cable TV network, bidirectional transformation mustbe carried out on conventional unidirectional HFC network. Combined with the actualsituation, this thesis adopted EPON (Ethernet Passive Optical Network) and LAN (LocalArea Network) to achieve bidirectional transformation of cable TV network and designed anaccess terminal.This subject came from national2012major scientific and technological achievementstransformation project named “photonic integrated next generation Internet network terminalindustrialization” which was declared by Zhejiang Broadcasting Television Technology Co.,Ltd. and Huazhong University of Science and Technology. The prototype developed will beused for high speed triple play access experiment conducted by Hangzhou Huashu CultureBroadcasting Television Group.In order to make a compact, low power and highly compatible access terminal, thisthesis innovatively used integrated ONU (Optical Network Unit) module in SFP (SmallForm Pluggable) package.The main content of the thesis includes:(1) Overall design of the terminal was described,followed by the principles andselection of key components of various parts.(2) A detailed description of the interface module, data exchange module and centralcontrol module of the circuit was given. Based on signal integrity analysis, impedancematching differential line was designed for transmission of high-speed digital signal.(3) Initialization procedures and interface programs of each part were designed basedon the ARM (Advanced RISC Machines) chip of the main control module.(4) An embedded HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) server for remote managementof the access terminal was designed.(5) Test the access terminal product. Test results show that the developed accessterminal can satisfy the needs for HFC cable TV network bidirectional transformation.
