Many meritswhy IM is popular, such as cheap communications, efficiency of communication, rich contentof communication, easy to use and so on. IM focus on entertainment, friend, personal chatting.However, these functions are not desired by Enterprise IM. EIM require formality,emphasizing company logo, group roster based on real organizational architecture on its UI.EIM’s communications need to be controllable, traceable and safe; Informationization of manysmall business can not be completed by one step, but need to be adjusted adaptively with thechange of the scale, business patterns, so the EIM must be expandable. Sharing files iscommon function of IM, efficiency and easy-to-use is enough for general IM, but for EIM,security is needed.EIM market is now on its high-speed developing road, and has high profit. Many vendorsare pilling in the market in recent years, now it is highly competitive. All kinds of productsconfuse the user. Each manufacturer use their personal protocol, so the user afraid of beingtied to a single vendor because of the absence of interconnection. XMPP is the most widelyused intant protocol, the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) has formalized the coreXML streaming protocols as an approved instant messaging and presence technology. XMPPwas originally developed in the Jabber open-source community to provide an open, secure,spam-free, decentralized alternative to the closed instant messaging services at that time.XMPP offers several key advantages over such services: open, secure, extensible and so on.Applications based on XMPP also inherit these merits. Therefore, research on theimplementation of key functions of Enterprise IM based on XMPP has great application value.I chose the research problem in this paper against this background. This article firstintroduces the background knowledge and the research status of Enterprise IM; And then studyand analysis key functions of EIM; Then proposes the high-level design of the system and onthis basis, first introduces and analysis components of the system, include XMPP, Openfire,XMPPFramework; This paper focus on the implementation of key functions of EIM based onXMPP, Openfire and XMPPFramework.
