Nowadays Liquefied Natural Gas has been widely used around the world as clean energy due to its efficiency and clean characteristics. But for the LNG receiving station, it not only has the feature swith a long and complicated process and a large investment and the technology and management not easy to grasp but also has various insecurities. The requirement of controlling LNG receiving station is thus very high. On the other hand, Siemens SIMATIC PCS7has features with simple operation, easy maintenance, stable running, good scalability and security as a new generation of advanced process control systems. Furthermore, it can be seamlessly embedded into Siemens Totally Integrated Automation Systems. Therefore, Siemens SIMATIC PCS7can provide a good solution for the LNG receving station control system.In the paper its process characteristics and control requirement are analyzed in details when LNG receving station is thought as an object of design, based on the background of the project for LNG receving station in China Guangdong Province. And, DCS control system based on Siemens SIMATIC PCS7control system for the LNG receving station is designed, including the design of control scheme, system hardware configuration and network configuration and software configuration, etc. Furthermore, The system based on SIMATIC PCS7is implemented in the LNG receving station process and applied by SIMATIC PCS7software configuration.The results of practical application show that the whole system can be run stably and can achieve the desired design goals, which provides a successful engineering application of SIMATIC PCS7in the LNG Receiving Station.
